Happy Thanksgiving! Special Holiday Hours

christmas-rush.png

This week I was reminded how important we are to each other. We shipped boxes of BabyCakes all over the country and filled special orders for hundreds of you who waited in line so patiently (with happy faces too!). I can't help but feel touched that we are going to be a part of so many Thanksgiving celebrations! I just want to let you all to know that I'm so grateful that each and every one of you has continued to support us through the years. We couldn't live out our dream every day without you.

I'm also incredibly thankful for my employees. As a gesture of my appreciation for their hard work (these people did some serious magic this week) I'm closing up shop on Thursday, Thanksgiving day, as well as Friday so they can go see their families and celebrate in peace. SO sorry to everyone who had plans to stop by Friday! We will resume normal business hours on Saturday, cool? Thanks!

menu-cupcakes.jpgOur friends at In Style included us in their gift guide as the perfect present for a co-worker! Now, don't get me wrong, the cupcakes are a major crowd pleaser, but we have some other cool gift ideas in the works too (think DIY cookie mix). Make sure to check our menu page soon for seasonal additions.

New Sweetener Alert!

coconutsugar.jpgI can admit that I am an alternative ingredient psycho-nerd. It's not uncommon for me to drag my boyfriend into a health food store when we're on vacation just in case they have a sweetener or flour I've never tried before. Paris! Puerto Rico! Venice (beach)! So many stores! So many false alarms.

So when Earth Family Food sent me a sample of Coconut Sugar I approached the package in disbelief. What was this exotic product? How is it possible I'd never seen it before? I quickly learned that coconut sugar is really low glycemic (it ranks 35 on the index!) and that it's derived from evaporating coconut sap. And no preservatives?! And tons of nutrients. I mean, c'mon!

This morning, I finally put the new sugar to the test. And I am LOSING IT!!!!!

It's the Thanksgiving Menu, Everybody!

pilgrim2.jpgWe've all had a pretty big week, right? So much Obama excitement! You did a really great job, America! (But you, California -- you simply have to do better than this Prop 8 nonsense.)

But can we talk about food again now? Great.

For the week of Thanksgiving we are having a special limited menu. We've put together a careful list of things we would bring to dinner for our friends and family -- and hopefully you will be equally as excited about it. Here it is:

Election Day 2008 Frosting Shot Freebie

frostingshot.jpgElection day is finally here, if you can you believe that! It feels as though it's been a couple years in the making or something ... oh, wait, right. Anyhow. I'm sure we're all a little nervous/excited/stressed/relieved, and certainly not as well rested as we should be. (My dreams? They've been loco.) So what we want to do is celebrate/toast the end/beginning with YOU THE AMERICAN VOTER! How exactly?

Welcome to Our Blog!

erin_babycakes_small.jpgThis is it, the BabyCakes NYC blog! I am so, so ready for this -- you don't even know. At first we'll keep posts focused primarily on all things baking and BabyCakes NYC, but don't be surprised by the occasional video of animals acting adorable, photos of Chuck Bass' many cute outfits, or helpful tips on how to add supreme volume to your hair. Truth is, once we get the hang of it, you'll be seeing a bunch of stuff that makes us excited: friends, crushes, new shops, do-gooder-groups we love, assorted food stuffs, shoes, dresses, and then some more shoes and dresses.

Believe us: We love to talk. So we're also opening up a comments section very soon!! Please chat with us, and to others, but be warned: we're keeping it positive in there! Vulgarity, inappropriate links, and general nastiness will not be welcome and we'll have to zap you from contributing. We'd hate that! Send your grievances to me at press [at] babycakesnyc [dot] com and I'll be happy to chat with you when i'm able. Agreed? Super.

One more thing, for you savvy sorts: there's an RSS feed. I do not know what this is really, but I am told you click it and then find out about my latest ramblings and all our new products and offerings. Which seems cool to me.

Now, please do browse backward for some of the archive-y posts we pulled together to get us up and running! Talk soon...
