This is it, the BabyCakes NYC blog! I am so, so ready for this -- you don't even know. At first we'll keep posts focused primarily on all things baking and BabyCakes NYC, but don't be surprised by the occasional video of animals acting adorable, photos of Chuck Bass' many cute outfits, or helpful tips on how to add supreme volume to your hair. Truth is, once we get the hang of it, you'll be seeing a bunch of stuff that makes us excited: friends, crushes, new shops, do-gooder-groups we love, assorted food stuffs, shoes, dresses, and then some more shoes and dresses.
Believe us: We love to talk. So we're also opening up a comments section very soon!! Please chat with us, and to others, but be warned: we're keeping it positive in there! Vulgarity, inappropriate links, and general nastiness will not be welcome and we'll have to zap you from contributing. We'd hate that! Send your grievances to me at press [at] babycakesnyc [dot] com and I'll be happy to chat with you when i'm able. Agreed? Super.
One more thing, for you savvy sorts: there's an RSS feed. I do not know what this is really, but I am told you click it and then find out about my latest ramblings and all our new products and offerings. Which seems cool to me.
Now, please do browse backward for some of the archive-y posts we pulled together to get us up and running! Talk soon...

When do we get to start talking about crushes? I like Chase. Sarah likes Real.
Crushes? Oh, hot! Almost party time...
On Saturday, a rainy dreer of a day in NYC, I came into Baby Cakes with my daughter. She knows I have never eaten a cupcake in the whole 60 years of my life because I am allergic to gluten, soy, egg, milk. We sat together at the counter and I ate the most succulent and sweet carrot cupcake. And I had no ill effects and the agave sweetener did not make me crash and burn. It was a gift of the gods. Truly. I wish my poor mother were alive to see this. She spent her whole life trying to make "real people" food for me. Thanks for a dizzying and delicious experience. I have ordered the cookbook.
I went to your NYC bakery today with my 2 children who have Celiac. They have never had a fresh cupcake or cookie that I did not make. They were VERY excited. We are visiting from FL and looked at the menu on the web before going, we had to get a cab as it is far from the hotel. I have to say - they love the things we bought but I was VERY dissapointed in the staff. When my daughter asked if she could have a chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing we were told no, that only chocolate icing comes with that cupcake, I was having her pick out something else when the girl in charge offered to frost her one. I thought that was so sweet until she then turned to me and told me I should tell her not to expect that in the future unless I called ahead. When I attempted to explain that we were from out of town, she walked away.
I also asked for a local restaurant recommendation. The girl who was waiting on me was very helpful and mentioned a local place that had GF pizza, but could not remember the name. When she asked the girl in charge she said she had no idea. Color me silly, but I did make the assumption that this would be a place where you could get a recommendation on everything GF. She simply told me to call information. I came there in a cab, I do not know the city and did not know the name of the restaurant. I found her to be very obnoxious. Maybe I was taking too long, but my kids are 6 & 10 -- it takes a few minutes to make a choice when they've never had this option before. I felt rushed and I felt stupid. This is not a cheap outing, between cab fare and cupcakes that are over $4.
The most upsetting thing is that I got back to my hotel and the order was not even right.
No more Baby Caked for me.
Nov 8th found me in NYC - first time in 4 years! I was disappointed with the gloomy weather - but not with your muffins! A few months ago, my daughter Sara had brought me some tasty treats when she visited in CT, and I had to have more! They are so yummy - thanks!
I wanted to take a minute to rave about your customer service. In a world that moves so fast, in a city that never sleeps, in a day of every man for himself, Baby Cakes NYC stands out in not just its product, but its commitment to its customers. I am pleased to say this especially because I was not pleased with the service on the day I was in the bakery (see my rant above)! However, in no time at all, all of my conerns were handled in a wonderful manner that did not leave me feeling bad about my post, but rather the opposite - - my thoughts and opinions were treated with respect. And, for anyone who read the post and is wondering, there IS a a restaurant on Allen street right before Houston called Palo that serves GF pizza. We never got to try it on our visit, so I cannot speak to the taste or experience. But, I can say that if you want some baked goods - Baby Cakes is worth the stop! My children are still raving about the cookie sandwiches and the banana bread. I love the cornbread toasted with a little bit of butter. My husband is a fan of the brownies. Hands down, just the joy of eating a fresh product is unbelieveable for us, the fact that everything tastes so good is an added bonus! The only drawback now is I am a bit intimidated to make cookies for my kids now that they have had these!
And, for everyone who reads my earlier post, rest assured that your satisfaction is very important to Baby Cakes.
When are you opening up in Los Angeles?
