Remember that Malibu Barbie Cupcake special I was telling you all about on Friday in honor of gay pride weekend? That cupcake that everyone kept asking us to bring back? Well, we got so pumped for gay pride we went full out making all these signs and stuff. Chelley even spent, like, 2 hours making a big old rainbow number on butcher paper. But in the end we only sold 4 or something. But you know what? We still had the gayest day ever and we owe it all to the high spirit that was coursing through the city. Thank you for a spectacular weekend!!!

Are you in New York for Gay Pride this weekend? Then you must be stopping by BabyCakes before the parade, right? I knew it! Since our Malibu Barbie cupcakes (Malibu Rum drenched cupcake with Vanilla Pride frosting!) were such a ferocious hit last year we are bringing them back! Get here before we sell out! The world just seems alright when I watch this.

I totally screamed with excitement when I saw this photo that Maritza from North Carolina emailed us. She made the Sweet Paradise cake adorned with Hello Kitty toppers. I don't know about anyone else, but if I were her daughter I would have hugged this cake. Yay Maritza!!

On June 12th, The Coalition Against Hunger is hosting a really wonderful event for fashion enthusiasts and friends who want to join in the fight against hunger. At 7pm, "A Full Plate of Fashion: Fighting Hunger With Style" will be hosted at the Brick Presbyterian Church (Park Avenue at 91st Street). It will be an evening of artful designs, auctions, and, of course, BabyCakes NYC!

Don't I look happy in this photo? It's because that cool woman next to me at my San Diego booksigning is Sister Mary Daniel-- my 7th and 8th grade teacher! Now, I wasn't always the best student (I was often in trouble for zoning out and thinking about lip gloss or something) but Sister Daniel had a way of teaching us less motivated students things we still remember to this day. In fact--just moments before this photo was taken, she asked me to recite all the American Presidents which I had to memorize for her class 19 years ago. And I didn't forget one! That's a big deal to someone who still can't get all their sibling's names straight.

So here's to you Sister! Thank you for teaching me to respect my elders ("Don't say 'yeah' to me!") to love math (kinda) and to strive for peace. I really, really hope I didn't make any grammatical errors or typos in this! You still make me nervous...
