Back? Cool. So David worked in the pastry dept at Chez Panisse for about 13 years in San Francisco (I worked there too, soon after he left) and he also was named one of the Top 5 Pastry Chefs in San Francisco which is a bigger deal than he'll ever admit. He wrote a ton of cult hit pastry cookbooks and then my absolute favorite, The Sweet Life in Paris, a memoir about his first years living in Paris which had me rolling on the floor laughing and then made me want to do-over my first trip there. David has a way of writing about food and pastry that is earnest yet fun, and real. A more human approach maybe? This is refreshing to me since so many foodies have emerged in the past 10 years that fancy themselves just a little too awesome and take it a crack to the obnoxious side of the fence, are you with me?

David stopped by the bakery a few weeks ago because he has been following our videos and wanted to see what was up with us. He was as hilarious in person as he is in his writing! Speaking of, he went back to Paris and then wrote this really adorable thing about his visit. To date, this is my all-time favorite write up that has ever been published about us. Thank you David! Will you marry me? Oh wait, my wedding's on Saturday. Too late.

I am French, living in the US and I just adore the way David writes about my country, and food, and people. Thanks to him, I found out about your wonderful place : Miam-miam & joyeux mariage !

I read David's write-up on babycakes yesterday......it had me wishing I were in N.Y so bad, that if I could have found a spare few thousand and a baby sitter I swear I would have been there!!! I've never really felt the pull to travel to America, now I do. Damn you babycakes ;-)

I've only come across David's blog and celebrity this summer. I was unemployed and like any other professional foodie, I found myself trying to come up with and drill down the recipes that will eventually be my business. David was one of the first bloggers I came across, and it was his adaption of a Nick Malgieri Oatmeal Cookie recipe that make me take a deeper look at who this David Lebovitz is. So, I too read some of his blog, laughed quite a bit and after realizing his passion, and uncanny perception, I began to subscribe to his blog. I saw his write up on BabyCakes, watched the video and again, I'm inspired to do what I love to do because of folks like You, Ms. McKenna. You are obviously a very intelligent business woman, who understands her niche and goes at it with an open mind and passion. If I'm ever in NYC, I'd be a fool not to stop in. You sold David. I've become of fan of his good taste and judgment. Congratulations on your success.

And I read David's write up on babycaces yesterday. And it is so sad that i just now find out about babycakes.I visited NYC last February and I don't think I'll have the oportunity to come back soon.I live in a little country called Lithuania.

hi erin,
i lovelovelove what you're doin! it seems babycakes is coming to me from so many directions - david's blog (i love him too and would fight you for him, our husbands would find this amusing i'm sure), i did a short stint at chez panisse this past spring (changed my life!) and i had a client hand me your book last week asking if i'd bake some cupcakes for her nieces birthday. i loved 'em! better than any "conventional" cupcake i've ever made. i'm wildly inspired and ready to bring the gluten-free goodness up to rocky mountains in canada. i'll keep you posted (and the rest of the world on my blog) and hope to see you in nyc someday soon...if you ever need an intern, i'm your girl!
xo
