I'm trying to find a way to act awesome and as if it's NO BIG DEAL, but that would be totally wrong of me. Actually, I'M TOTALLY LOSING IT because BabyCakes NYC just scored the coveted Best of New York award from New York Magazine for our doughnuts!!!
Ok, for those of you who don't live in NY or don't read New York Magazine, or live in Kankakee, Illinois and therefore do not know about this list; let me explain. Every year the persnickety food editors compile a list of the best of everything to eat in NY. We made the list a few months after opening BabyCakes NYC, for Best Cupcakes in NY (thanks!) and now we've been crowned Best Vegan Treat in NY for our doughnuts. Is this life of mine really real??? What's next?!?! Thank you, New York Magazine. I will continue to refresh my Grubstreet button every 15 minutes for up-to-the-minute news in the food world. Love!!!![]()

We were so excited to see the Cinnamon Sugar Toastie recipe in the December issue of Guideposts Magazine. Now, we are happy to share an interview with Erin about her favorite recipe, favorite ingredients and her love for pop!
Forbes Traveler recently posted their round-up of America's Best Cupcakes and named BabyCakes NYC as one of the best! We are absolutely thrilled! Check out the entire list here.
I got an email from a colleague of Gwyneth Paltrow's for her website Goop a little while ago asking if I wanted to be a part of their upcoming newsletters. I almost fell over because I live for Goop. The first time I read it, I couldn't believe there was someone out there who was interested in all the same things as me. Her recipes were simple and delicious (she too believes that Vegenaise could possibly be added to the mother sauce list) and I've totally chiseled my shoulder muscles following her Tracy Anderson sculpting videos. So, of course I said yes! You can click to read it here. It's worth it, y'all. There are 4 recipes! Clink this highlighted thingy:

I'm so ready to propose.
There was a tasty little item in today's Tasting Table NYC Newsletter:
Who said it's impossible to make a healthy doughnut that tastes as good as the real (fried) thing? We did--and were then proven wrong.
BabyCakes NYC founder Erin McKenna, who's already demonstrated that dairy- and gluten-free sweets can indeed be delicious, has created a non-fried vegan doughnut that rivals its fattier counterparts.
While crafting recipes for her new cookbook, McKenna challenged herself to master a gluten-free, soy-free, agave-sweetened doughnut that has the same cakey consistency we love.
Using texture as her guide, she created a base recipe that can be adapted to all manner of flavors. She was so pleased with the results that she's permanently adding a rotating array of doughnuts ($3 to $3.50) to the bakery's menu, including maple-glazed, raspberry-glazed, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar and lemon-coconut, as well as a chocolate-dipped variety that is so dead-on in its sinfully rich texture that BabyCakes's daily stock often disappears before noon.
